4.0 out of 5 stars 6 month review, January 2, 2008

This review is from: Samsung SGH-U600 Unlocked Cell Phone with 3.2 MP Camera, Media Player, MicroSD Slot--International Version with Warranty (Black) (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I've owned this phone for a little over 6 months now. Here are my thoughts.

Pros:
- Screen is clear and very scratch resistant.
- Great phone reception. I'm using it with AT&T (in the San Francisco region).
- Battery still lasts 3 days on standby, even after 6 months.
- Lots of hidden features. The documentation isn't so great, but you can do things like hold down the volume up key to use the camera flash as a flashlight, have multiple world clocks on the screen, etc.
- Camera is excellent. Solid quality even in lower light.
- Keypad is holding up well.
- Size is perfect. I've had smaller phones and I just lost them in stacks of papers. This one is small enough to fit in my front pocket, but not so small I can't hold it.

Cons:
- Text messaging is a frustrating experience (more details below).
- Slider action is ever so slightly wobbly after 6 months.
- Touch sensitive buttons offer no feedback and are poorly... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Overall happy with this stylish phone, May 3, 2008

Pros: Looks, large bright screen, slim design, user interface

Cons: Might be fragile. I'm afraid if I drop it, the phone will be ruined.

Overall: First, ignore the reviews from from others who claim this phone is slow. The only slow operation I experience is the camera can take a few seconds to auto-focus. You can speed this time up by pressing the camera button half way, causing it to auto-focus and take the picture quicker.

I also have no problems the touch buttons. The touch buttons lock and unlock exactly as if they read my mind. Maybe I have a newer firmware that works better. My phone was manufactured in Jan 2008. I have read on internet forums that there seem to be different versions of firmware out there. My guess it that the earlier phones have an older firmware that has since been improved.

This phone looks great. It is not a common phone in North America or Australasia (regions I travel and live in). Everyone thinks its... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars best phone ever, if the screen did not wobble, April 28, 2008
This review is from: Samsung SGH-U600 Unlocked Cell Phone with 3.2 MP Camera, Media Player, MicroSD Slot--International Version with Warranty (Black) (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I love this phone. it is thin, light, and years ahead of any phone that you advertised today. I did some research, and found Samsung claiming that this is the thinnest phone in the world! (yes, thinner than a Razr)

Its camera is great, but if you set it to high resolution, it will think for about 2-3 seconds between the press of the button, and the actual capturing. I dont know what is the problem with the other people and their memory cards. When i insert my microSD flash from my phone into the laptop, Norton thinks that all of my pictures are viruses (phone's fault) but i can still go around that and save them.
It has very nice speaker, so you can load up your songs(in mp3) and use them as your ringtones. But it isn't really useful as an mp3 player, since its battery life is not very long.

The screen bends(irreversibly) by about a millimeter, which is enough for it to wobble when you press the touch buttons. However, after a week, you get used to it, but... Read more
